Last night, a female student reported being followed by three men from the 1900 block of Highland Street. The males cornered her into the area east of the Ken Bahnsen Gym and fondled her, according to the crime alert.

The student reported this happening between 9-9:30 p.m. Sept. 23, but UNT police first caught wind of it when they were telephoned by a housing staff member at 12:15 a.m. The student has not filed with the police, according to the alert.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the UNT Criminal Investigations Division at 940-565-3006 or UNT Crime Stoppers at 940-369-TIPS.

Dean of Students Maureen McGuinness, who organized the Sexual Assault Awareness Task Force over the summer, said students should stay informed, get involved and do their best to remain alert and safe.

“Attend our programs & events,” McGuinness said. “Get educated. Follow us on twitter @Untconsent2prev and @UNTDOS for updated programs and trainings. Get involved in the UNT Committee on Prevention and Education on Sexual Assault and Intimate Partner Violence. Watch what you post on social media. Know where blue emergency lights are in case you don’t have your phone on you.”
