As storied a career as John Turturro has had – whether behind the camera for 2005’s “Romance & Cigarettes,” starring Kate Winslet and the late James Gandolfini, or simply acting in favorites such as “The Big Lebowski” and “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” – he has forever been a talent to follow.

With “Fading Gigolo,” Turturro brings his gifts back behind the camera, as well as in front, for the all-star comedy about a mild-mannered florist named Fioravante (Turturro) whose lifelong friend, Murray (Woody Allen), wants him to be New York City’s go-to middle-aged man-whore.

NT Daily sat down with Turturro this morning for his new film, which opens Dallas’ USA Film Festival tonight. We talked about working with Woody Allen, doing the no pants dance with his co-stars and teaching a college course on creativity.

“Fading Gigolo” opens wide in theaters on May 2.
